W-9 packs for contractors

1099 payees are not employees. They need a W-9, not an I-9. One pack, one signature, same storage.

Misclassifying a contractor as an employee (or the reverse) is a tax problem. The paperwork should still be clean: name, TIN, tax classification, signature, date.

What you get

Form 1099-NEC is a year-end payer filing. It is not hire-time, and NewHirePack does not file 1099s.

Employees instead: new hire paperwork.

Common questions

Does a contractor need an I-9?

What counts as a hire pack?
One completed employee pack (W-4 + I-9 Section 1 + state withholding) or one W-9 contractor pack.
